Network Support Engineer

In this role you will be required to provision and configure VoIP Solutions and provide high quality telephonic, remote, on site networking & VoIP support to existing and new clients. The successful incumbent will be required to work on Asterisk and will be provided with the necessary training.

Education and Qualification:

Relevant Degree or diploma
Must be a South African citizen or have a valid work permit

Skills and Specifications:

Sound knowledge of Linux systems (CentOS / Red Hat / Fedora)
Sound knowledge of databases (MySQL)
Working knowledge of network architecture and protocols (TCP / IP, SSH, SCP, Ethernet)
Ability to troubleshoot network, software & operating system issues
Wireshark, Ethereal, tcpdump, strace, sar, top, vi, yum, rpm, rc scripts, sed, awk exposure advantageous
VoIP and Data knowledge would be beneficial
Understanding of VPN’s (ISPEC, 3DES or VPN Tunnels)
Knowledge of routing and switches
Understanding of DNS
ISP experience highly advantageous
Understanding of Firewalls

Job Specification

To offer technical support to clients and resellers on multiple networks and resolve technical queries whilst ensuring customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing superior customer service at all times
Develop a deep understanding of Switch Telecom products and services
Installing hosted switchboards, configuring handsets and installing VoIP Solutions
Responsible for initial diagnosis of problems and ensuring the relevant resolution
Handling ticket queue and ensuring a quick turnaround
Deploying, monitoring and maintaining PBX and Call Centre environments using Asterisk and related software
Maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction in our customer base
Desire to learn more and research where needed
Ability to document workarounds or solutions to issues found in our knowledge base
Prioritization of numerous service requests
Work with technical team to enable delivery of solutions and trouble shoot issues
Conduct remote support to diagnose and resolve incidents
Ensuring all service requests are updated comprehensively on the ticketing system
Fulfil standby duties as per set roster
