Lockdown and beyond – Unleash the power of your Switch Solution

It’s been 27 days since the government announced the lockdown of our country. The lockdown has had a massive impact on the way we communicate as individuals and, for those that can; the way we conduct business. As we all come to terms with the COVID-19 outbreak, we’d like to take this opportunity to share the steps that we have taken to ensure that we continue to offer the levels of service that you expect from Switch Telecom:

Our primary concern continues to be the health and safety of our colleagues and their families, our clients and our business partners. On the 24th of March, we successfully coordinated a move of our entire staff compliment out of our offices and relocated them each to their respective homes. We now have “remote” offices throughout the country and as far afield as Bapsfontein. We managed to do this at the same time addressing numerous support requests and tickets assisting our clients in their preparation for the lockdown.

Switch is an Essential Service Provider during Lockdown

As an essential service provider, our team understands the importance of their contribution to keeping our clients connected. Working together to understand your individual needs and providing advice and support wherever possible.

Our solutions have been designed to increase mobility, improve productivity and efficiency. Most importantly they will bring down costs and avoid disruption. Make no mistake; the lockdown has brought with it a disruption to our lives and businesses few of us have ever had to deal with before.

The way we all do business has changed dramatically over the last couple of weeks. We are sure it will continue to change and evolve even after the lockdown has come to an end. If you aren’t offering an essential service and if you are able to; working remotely is now a necessity. We know many of our clients are revising their business models and changing them to accommodate these challenging times. The ability to adapt is going to be crucial in the coming weeks and months but one thing that will always remain a constant is the need to connect.

It’s for this reason that we also wanted to reach out to our clients and remind them that there are multiple ways you can utilise your existing Switch Telecom solution to enhance the way you communicate in these uncertain times.

Flexible Solutions that Suit Every Requirement

  • As a lot of our clients already know, Switch Telecom services can work over any reliable internet connection regardless of what it is or where your “remote” offices are based.
  • Switch Telecom is still able to provision and deliver VoIP Telephones throughout the country.

If you were unable to move your VoIP telephone/s from your office/s before the lockdown, you can also look at utilising a softphone solution. There are a number to choose from and you can easily download them to your mobile device or computer. You don’t need a new Switch Telecom service; you can just as easily use your existing VoIP Line or Hosted Switchboard extension details.

Call forwarding is also a clever way to ensure that you never miss a call. It can also easily be set up via the Switch Telecom Client Zone.

Numerous clients have already taken advantage of our Teleconferencing solution. There is no monthly service fee. And you can still effectively communicate with your colleagues and clients without the security concerns that have plagued other conferencing solutions.

Toll Free numbers have also become a very popular addition to a number of our client’s communication portfolios. Companies can ensure that their staff and clients are able to contact them without the caller incurring the cost of the call.

There are so many other ways we can assist in keeping you connected during the lockdown and beyond.

A Team you can Depend on

You can depend on our highly skilled and trained team to offer support and advice. In addition, our user-friendly online portal will enable you to manage your own solution portfolio, no matter where you are.

You can contact us Toll Free on 0800 060 100 or email enquiries@switchtel.co.za to speak to a Voice Specialist, who will be able to assist you with advice pertaining to your specific requirements.

Lastly, we would like to wish all our clients the best during this difficult time. We would also like to assure you that we will continue to remain competitive while ensuring a premium service.

Interview with TechCentral

Communications regulator Icasa has not thought through its proposed new call termination rate regulations. If they’re implemented without significant changes, they will harm the industry and lead to higher prices for consumers. That’s the view of Switch Telecom CEO Greg Massel, who spoke to TechCentral in a podcast interview on Monday (listen to the discussion below). “The single biggest issue is that, either intentionally or unintentionally, they seem to steal from the poor and give to the rich,” he said.
