Primary Rate ISDN Discontinuing; Reach for a VoIP Solution

With the news of the discontinuation of Telkom’s Primary Rate ISDN services, a lot of businesses are having to consider alternative options to ensure the continuation of their telephony services. Let’s face it, communication has become an essential lifeline of any business. Bigger businesses have previously used PRI or Primary Rate ISDN services linked to an onsite switchboard. Telkom will no longer offer or support this service as of the 31st December 2020. So now is the time to change.

Primary Rate ISDN no longer supported; Porting is the answer

Switch Telecom was one of the first service providers to offer geographic number porting. As a result, we have perfected the process. We will manage the number porting in full. As such you will find the entire process quick, easy, and non-disruptive, even when you port number ranges or multiple different numbers. Most importantly the Switch Telecom team will work closely with you in order to ensure a smooth transition. The range of ported telephone numbers will be linked to a 30 channel VoIP Trunk Solution. This will replicate the number of concurrent calls you had on the Primary Rate ISDN. This Trunk solution will register to an onsite VoIP enabled switchboard of your choice or a Switch Telecom Hosted Switchboard.

This allows your business to continue to service your customers without interruption. If you require additional channels on the VoIP Trunk this can be implemented quickly and easily. The Primary Rate ISDN service never allowed for this type of flexibility.

If you don’t have an Onsite Switchboard; Consider a Hosted Switchboard

Businesses may also look to consider a move to a Switch Telecom Hosted Switchboard Solution. The Hosted Switchboard can accommodate 30 or more concurrent calls (mirroring the concurrent calls offered on a standard Primary Rate ISDN), ten to thousands of extensions and sequential number range with ease. Our experienced and skilled support team would be able to set up the Hosted Switchboard Solution. It will mirror your existing switchboard set up to make the transition between the two a breeze. The GUI available via our Client Zone portal will put the management of your Hosted Switchboard firmly in your hands. It allows you to change how your calls flow, adding extensions, changing extension details and lots more functionality than traditional switchboard solutions. In an ever-changing world, this is an invaluable tool.

More Reason’s to Change to a Hosted Switchboard

The Hosted Switchboard Solution will allow businesses to accommodate staff members working remotely as well as from within the office space, connecting your team effortlessly. This also now sees the option of linking separate branches to one central switchboard which can increase communication and productivity all the while saving money. The Hosted Switchboard will also offer the availability of a welcome message/s, the availability to advertise your products while your clients are on hold, the option to route your calls differently based on the time of the day or day of the week, have voicemails delivered as an email for each extension, set up ring groups and call queues, introduce PIN dialling to track employee usage to name a few options available.

With the world in so much turmoil, take control, say goodbye to your Telkom Primary Rate ISDN service and consider a better alternative.
